About the Board

Libby Bailey

(Co-Founder, Executive Director)

Director Libby Bailey has a passion for women and the issues that are unique to them–no matter where they live or what they have.

A native of Salem, Oregon, Libby was raised by a close-knit family and learned from a young age to care about other people and the planet. Her educational pursuits led her to a degree in Biology & Psychology from the University of Oregon.

In 2004, Libby began a successful real estate career with the Hasson Company in Portland, Oregon. Recipient of several notable awards, including Rookie of the Year and Top Sales in Portland for consecutive years, Libby was recognized by her colleagues and community as one of Portland’s most respected brokers.

Libby’s love of adventure and international travel allowed her to summit over 15 peaks on four continents and grow her passion for the outdoors and photography.
Libby is a contributing photographer for Getty Images, and she won photography contests in 2009 and 2010 sponsored by Islands magazine for her portrait work.

It was her 2008 mountaineering trip to Tanzania to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro that changed her life. During that journey, Libby’s heart never seemed to leave Africa. Working with the orphans in Arusha after her climb, she found it difficult to leave the children and return to her career. Libby’s vision and planning for Your Sisters became her passion; she soon made the decision to move her entire life overseas so she could watch her dream unfold.

Today, Libby lives in Tanzania and travels frequently to the U.S. She has become a respected member of the local community, where she is a sister and mentor to many. Libby is intimately involved with overseeing all aspects of Your Sisters and it gives her tremendous pride to know that she is working on a daily basis to empower change for the women and children of Tanzania.
